Vault Phone Cleaner is built so your photos and contacts stay on your iPhone. This policy explains exactly what the app and this website do with your information.
The short version
- No account is needed to use the app.
- No analytics, no ads, no tracking and no third-party SDKs.
- Your photos, thumbnails, scan results and contacts never leave your iPhone, unless you turn on the optional Vault Photos backup.
- Apple handles payments and only tells the app whether Pro is active.
- This website sets no cookies and runs no scripts or analytics.

What the app does with your data
Everything the app does to find what takes up space happens on your iPhone. You don't need an account. The app has no analytics, no ads, no tracking and no third-party SDKs, so nothing about how you use it is sent to us or to anyone else.
Your photos, the thumbnails the app makes, its scan results and your contacts never leave your iPhone. The only exception is the optional Vault Photos backup described below, which is off unless you turn it on.
Photos access, and why
The app asks for access to your photo library so it can find duplicates, similar photos, screenshots, screen recordings, large videos, burst extras, blurry photos and Live Photos, and so it can delete the items you choose.
- The checks run on your iPhone. Photos and thumbnails are not uploaded.
- You can give the app access to only some of your photos. It will then only see those.
- Nothing is deleted until you choose it and iOS asks you to confirm. Deleted items go to Recently Deleted in the Photos app for 30 days.
- You can change or remove access at any time in the iPhone's Settings.
Contacts access, and why
The app asks for access to your contacts only when you open Duplicate contacts. It uses that access to find contacts saved twice and to merge the ones you choose, on your iPhone.
When contacts are merged, the app keeps a copy of them inside the app on your iPhone so you can put them back. Your contacts and that copy never leave your iPhone. Deleting the app removes the copy.
If you never open Duplicate contacts, the app never asks for contacts access.
Storage numbers and the scan cache
The app reads your iPhone's storage numbers (how much space is used and free) on the phone, only to show them to you. They are not sent anywhere.
To make the next scan faster, the app keeps a scan cache on your iPhone. It stays on the phone and is removed when you tap Clear app cache in the app or delete the app.
The optional Vault Photos backup
If you have a Vault Photos account, you can turn on a backup before deleting. It is off unless you turn it on.
- When it's on, the photos you choose to delete are uploaded to your Vault Photos at photos.vaultdoor.app, which is run by The Pew Estate. They are deleted from your iPhone only after the upload is confirmed.
- Signing in sends your Vault Photos email and password to Vault Photos. The sign-in session is kept in your iPhone's Keychain.
- Photos you back up are kept in your Vault Photos account. You can manage them in Vault Photos, or email us to have them deleted.
- Where the GDPR applies, we process your backed-up photos and sign-in details to provide the backup you asked for (performance of a contract).
Purchases
Vault Cleaner Pro is bought through Apple. Apple handles the payment and only tells the app whether Pro is active. We don't receive your card details. Apple's handling of your payment is covered by Apple's own privacy policy.
Crash reports
The app doesn't send crash reports itself. If you have chosen to share data with app developers in your iPhone's settings (Settings, Privacy & Security, Analytics & Improvements, Share With App Developers), Apple may pass crash reports from the app on to us. We use them only to fix problems. If that setting is off, we get nothing.
This website
phone.vaultdoor.app sets no cookies and runs no scripts or analytics. It is served through Cloudflare, which processes visitors' IP addresses to deliver the site and protect it from attacks.
Selling and sharing
We don't sell or share personal information, and we don't use it for advertising.
Children
The app and this website are not directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect personal information from children.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, laws such as the GDPR in the EU and UK, and the CCPA and other US state privacy laws, give you rights over your personal information. These include the right to access it, correct it, delete it, get a copy of it, and object to how it's used.
Because the app sends us nothing, there is nothing about you for us to access or delete, apart from photos you have backed up to Vault Photos. You can manage those in Vault Photos, or email info@vaultdoor.app and we'll help. We won't treat you differently for using your rights.
Everything else the app keeps, such as the scan cache and the copy of merged contacts, is on your iPhone and is removed when you delete the app.
If you are in the EU or UK, you can also complain to your local data protection authority.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we'll post the new version on this page and update the date at the top. If a change affects what happens to your data, we'll explain it clearly on this page.
