Terms of Use

Last updated 12 October 2026

These terms are an agreement between you and The Pew Estate (“we”, “us”) about using the Vault Phone Cleaner app. By downloading or using the app, you agree to them. Please read them, especially the parts about deleting.

Your license to use the app

We give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use Vault Phone Cleaner on Apple devices that you own or control, as allowed by the App Store's usage rules. You may not copy, sell, rent or redistribute the app, or modify or reverse engineer it except where the law allows. The app and its name, look and content belong to The Pew Estate.

Apple's agreement also applies

Apple's standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement also applies to your use of the app. These terms add to it. These terms are between you and The Pew Estate, not Apple, and Apple is not responsible for the app or its content.

You choose what to delete

Merged contacts

When you merge duplicate contacts, the app keeps a copy of them on your iPhone. Merged contacts can be put back only from that copy. If you delete the app, the copy is deleted too.

Keep your own backups

Please keep your own backups of photos, videos and contacts that matter to you, for example with iCloud, on a computer, or with the optional Vault Photos backup. The app is a tool to help you choose; it is not a backup.

If you turn on the Vault Photos backup, photos you choose to delete are uploaded to your Vault Photos account first and are deleted from your iPhone only after the upload is confirmed. The backup needs a Vault Photos account.

Vault Cleaner Pro subscription

Scanning, seeing everything the app finds and choosing what to keep are free. Deleting and merging need Vault Cleaner Pro, an auto-renewing subscription available weekly ($2.99), monthly ($4.99) or yearly ($29.99, with a 1-week free trial). Prices are in US dollars and may differ in your country; the App Store shows your price before you buy.

Acceptable use

Use the app only for photos, videos and contacts that are yours or that you have the right to manage, and only in ways that are legal where you are. Don't try to break, overload or get around the app's protections, and don't use the Vault Photos backup to store anything you don't have the right to store.

Disclaimer

We work hard to make the app accurate and safe, but it is provided “as is” and “as available”. To the fullest extent the law allows, we make no warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including that the app will find every duplicate, judge every photo correctly, or work without interruption or errors.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, The Pew Estate is not liable for any indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages, or for any loss of data, including photos, videos or contacts that you chose to delete or merge. Our total liability for any claim about the app is limited to the amount you paid for Vault Cleaner Pro in the 12 months before the claim.

Some places don't allow these exclusions or limits, so some of them may not apply to you. Nothing in these terms takes away rights you have under the consumer laws where you live.

Ending and changes

You can stop using the app at any time by deleting it (remember to cancel your subscription separately). We may end your license if you break these terms. We may update these terms; the new version will be posted on this page with a new date, and using the app after that means you accept it.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Florida, USA, without regard to its conflict of law rules.
